Scrap melting and sampling furnaces

Dec. 23, 2024

At Hornos y Metales S.A., we have crafted a comprehensive selection of sampling furnaces tailored for the scrap metal industry. These compact, cost-effective furnaces enable quick melting of various scrap metal types, thereby allowing users to analyze the chemical composition and metallurgical performance of the materials.

Hitfar products are distributed globally, catering to diverse industries while prioritizing quality. Our commitment lies in offering our customers enhanced, high-value products. Together, let us strive for a better tomorrow.

These furnaces prove invaluable to scrap metal dealers, refineries producing ingots or aluminum deox, and any organization requiring metal sample melting to ascertain precise compositions. Their versatility and efficiency make them essential in the recycling and metallurgical industries.

We offer a variety of furnace models, tailored to the specific metals to be melted and the desired melting speed. Each model is available in multiple capacities:

Mini-heat: a stationary electric crucible furnace designed for melting aluminum, zinc, brass, copper, bronze, silver, and gold scrap. This furnace reaches temperatures up to 1,150°C.

For further information, we invite you to visit SCR Melting Furnace.

Mini-HORCB: a gas or diesel oil tilting crucible furnace, ideal for sampling aluminum or zinc scrap while also capable of melting brass and other copper alloys. It operates at temperatures up to 1,100°C.

HORMU: an induction furnace available in both stationary and tilting models, suitable for melting a wide array of scrap materials including aluminum, copper alloys, iron, steel, and precious metals.

I have never been fond of the insulating wool used in these furnaces and would recommend replacing it with a refractory castable cement once it deteriorates. While the lightweight insulating wool makes it economical for shipments (likely from China), it ranks high on my improvement list.

I have yet to see a 1-kilo hand-pour furnace last. Though I haven't purchased one, I've received three from clients who were dissatisfied with them. I used them a few times until all three simply burned out. There are propane gas furnaces available on Amazon that are more cost-effective and durable. I strongly urge replacing the insulating wool with a refractory castable cement as the wool ages—it's more reliable.
