China to make a $ SUV!!! Would you buy one??? | Page 2

I try not to buy anything from china at all because greedy american companie owners are moving our jobs out and giving them to china. I also try to avoid buying anything from chinese because its funding there eoconmy which is causing them to become weltheier and put much more pressure on the oil supply causing our prices to go up. It is also substanialy funding the chinese military which is much more of a threat to us than osama binladin. I saw the recent crash test of a chinese suv it totaly colapased in a 40 mph test like it hit a wall at 80 mph.

On the debate where cars are made and I hate to say this most nissans and toyotas have far more american content in them than say most GM. Most cars from gm are bland poorly made and feel like they are designed by been counters insted of designers and engeiners. I hate to say this but honda now has this problems. On to ford most of there cars are bland and severly underengereered. How many recalls has the focus had compared to a toyota corrola?

Yes, that 500 and Fusion are so exciting, and what about the Crown Vic that looks the same as it did in 98? I mean really i could have Anemic 300 HP overweight 500 or a 303 HP V8 Impala SS or Grand Prix GXP which have the technology of displacement on demand that allows them to match that overweight 200 HP pig ein fuel economy. Have you been in any newer GMs? The interior in the new Impala far surpasses what i ever thought GM could do in quality, the GTO? Simply one of the best interiors out there. Come on, you realize ford is in the same boat as GM, right? As for whoever said GM makes crappy motors, ~~~ did you get that????? Their older motors, including the L67 in my GTP are solid and well built and will go forever. I have done 30 1/4 mile runs in my GTP since it had 96k miles and now it has 105 and runs like a top. And their new motors? The LS4 with 303 HP, LS2 with 400, LS7 with 500+, a host of new truck motors coming (not that they needed more power to bust the F-150 powerwise), the Ecotec which has proven itself to be one of the toughest 4 bangers out there and an SCed version of it out doing great in the Cobalt SS with a turboed Ecotrec coming in the RWD Solstice and Saturn Sky. The new 3.9 V6 woith thing like Variable valve timing found in the Impala, and even the base 3.5 V6 puts down 8 more HP than the 500 or fusion. GM does share the one bnbig problem Ford has.... They make great Halo cars, but their everyday bread and butter cars are too damned borice. Look at Chrysler and Dodge, they have great full line-ups and once the replacement for the Neon and Stratus come out, they'll be set. Not everyone likes their designs, but they are different and for the most part people do like them. i don't believe there has yet been any incentives opffered on the LX, that is what America needs, cars that don't need huge discounts to sell.

You mean you don't have any SKSs

I think some of you guys need to read up on China, not that I am an expert, but they are moving away form communism even if it is a slow transition. The Chinese govt is realizing that most industries can do better in the hands of privately run business than it can directy regulate...

What kills me is that the people that carry on about not wanting to buy cheap chineese crap from walmart and the like don't realize that in many cases, the more expensive crap you by in the mall is also made in china, just has a fancier brand name...

Some of those nice expensive clothes and shoes in dillards and parisians are made in China, Mylasia, Tiwan, etc etc....

So be sure those $3.50 pencils you buy in staples are made in America, if that is your goal.

Perhaps I should try to buy more American, but it is difficult to buy American made goods when unskilled labor demands $50K a year on an assembly line; where a more reasonable rate should be more like $20K... Would I buy a Chinese SUV?...No...One from Japan?...No...Korea?..No

This has been a subject brought up here many times. Its pretty scary too.

In China they have no copyright laws. So basically they can copy ANYTHING and resell it. What does that mean? Someone spends the money to do the research and they basically reap the benifits for free. I try to buy American when possable but its becomming harder and harder to do so. We can discuss this for days on end.

We as consumers have forced BIG Corperations to globalize. Instead of fixing the worn sole on a show we buy a new pair. Instead of getting that toaster fixed we throw it out and buy a new one. We want new new new. But we dont want to spend alot. The fact is quality costs. There was a time you would fix your shoes and get your toaster repaired. So sad that is long gone.

We are currently in an age of wasting natural resources. Thats great. Also in our quest for wanting cheap NEW things we have phased out jobs. Cheap item needs to be made overseas to make a profit. Cheap items arnt worth fixing because you can buy new cheaper!. So you lose the labor in both the manufacturing and repair aspects. And we waste natural resources in the process. You do realize Japanese companies are in trouble as well>? It used to be cheap to produce in Japan. Thats why "Made in Japan" was always a synonym for garbage. That ended up changing as craftsmanship went up and with that prices. Workers in Japan get paid more now to the point that Japanese companies are farming out work to China. They are in a bigger pickle then us beng they have no natural resources to begin with. I see in the future Japan just being completely bypassed.

So if products are MADE overseas and engineered overseas what exactly does the American economy consist of?.....Its real scary when you think of it. What made our country a great power was our manufacturing. "MADE IN USA" was something to be proud of..Quality...We are basically screwing our own futures here.

So....Even if my Ford is made with Canadian parts, Japanese parts and Mexican parts..The least I can do is support an American based company and hope one day things will turn around.
